Sekarang kita sudah mengetahui selepas pertarungan marathon beliau dengan Hillary Clinton bagi merebut kerusi pencalonan Presiden Amerika bagi parti Demokrat, akhirnya Obama berjaya walaupun perjalanan beliau penuh getir. Buku beliau ditulis semasa beliau bertugas sebagai Sen. Illinois. Jika diamati buku ini mungkin memberi inspirasi kepada politikus-politikus Malaysia yang “percaya” dengan politik baru dan harapan baru. Mungkin saya boleh berkongsi dengan pembaca antara catatan penting beliau dalam bab-bab penting dalam buku ini:
a) Values:-”Indeed, the value of individual freedom is so deeply ingrained in us that we tend to take it for granted. It is easy to forget that at the time of our nation’s founding this idea was entirely radical in its implications, as radical as Martin Luther’s posting on the church door”
b) Our Constitution:- “Learn the rules…not just the rules, but the precedent as well…not many people bother to learn them these days. Everything is so rushed and by learning the rules it unlock the big kingdom”.
c) Politics:- “Today’s politician understand this. He may not lie, but he understands that there is no great reward in store for those who speak the truth, particularly when the truth may be complicated. The truth may cause consternation; the truth will be attacked; the media wont have teh patience to sort out all the facts and so the public may not know the difference between truth and falsehood.”
Kata-kata di atas adalah antara catatan penting oleh Sen. Obama di dalam buku ini. JIka dilihat kepada pemikiran beliau saya yakin beliau mampu mencipta sejarah sebagai Presiden Kulit Hitam pertama Amerika. Selamat Membaca!
